Duty Free City, headquartered in Miami, has partnered with Jaime Partners to execute its aggressive plan of bringing a high-end duty-free store to the United States' southern border. The flagship store located in the historic El Toreador Motel on San Ysidro Boulevard, features a wine lounge, cigar lounge, children's play area, Seattle's Best cafe, deli and a salon, along with cosmetics and accessories departments. The retailer has also partnered with designer handbag maker Furla and giant-candy maker IT'SUGAR to create in-store boutiques for those brands.

Duty Free City, with its combination of shopping, entertainment, salon services and in-store boutiques, hopes to bring to land ports-of-entry like San Ysidro an atmosphere of luxury and relaxation or, as its tagline puts it, "A Lifestyle Destination."
